Ms. Perich,

I was delighted to find you discussion on photography, and George W. McNeel. George W. was the brother of my 3rd grandfather Morgan Lewis McNeel, son of John Greenville McNeel of Brazoria, Texas. John Greenville McNeel (father of both George W. and Morgan Lewis) was one of Stephen F. Austin's Old 300 (origional 300 settlers in Texas). An interesting postscript to your discussion is that George W. did return to Texas and fought and died in the Civil War in Louisiana in 1864.

Can you tell me how the year book came into the museum's possesion and if there are other McNeel artifacts in the collection? Thank you for your discussion and I hope to hear from you.

Hi, Robyn:

The virtual handout on critical analysis can be found here:

<a href="http://www.smithsonianconferences.org/2009/nmah/" rel="nofollow">http://www.smithsonianconferences.org/2009/nmah/</A>

It is the last resource listed on the Virtual Exhibit Hall page for the National Museum of American History.

Enjoy!
